In the News: Home for the Holidays

We are loving the folks at The Herald Sun. Check out Sunday’s front page story: “Home for the Holidays: A do-it-yourself holiday”

Spotlight Speakers, Holiday Bazaar

Busy week for us at Sew Crafty: Toni had the honor of participating as one of six “spotlight speakers” during the Downtown Durham Inc 2011 Annual Meeting, held at the Carolina Theatre. Her heartfelt message on What I love about Downtown Durham highlighted the essence of why Durham is a great place to work, play, and do business – the people, of course!

“There is such a strong sense of community here. I see people going out of their way all the time to do business with their neighbors, helping to promote and recommend them…This is a town comprised of ‘glass half full’ people, and all of those half full glasses make my cup runneth over with love for this community.”

The theater was buzzing with energy from all of the wonderful speakers representing businesses in downtown Durham. We are so proud to be part of this community.

Check out The Herald Sun article featuring Toni’s speech.

Toni and I also participated in the 13th Annual Holiday Bazaar, a fundraiser for the NC Children’s Hospital. We loved meeting many of the 60 other vendors who supported this event, organized by the Triangle Medical Spouse Alliance.

Durham Art Walk 2011

Thank you to all who came and visited #16 on the Durham Art Walk! We had a great turn out and could not have asked for a more beautiful weekend. Toni and I enjoyed meeting so many new people who had come into Sew Crafty for the first time. The smell of  hot apple cider drew in visitors – I know, because so many of you mentioned how it wafted in the air! Our free felt flower pin craft was a hit with children and adults alike. People gathered around Molloy as she spun local sheep’s wool into yarn, and Suzanne’s crocheted ear-warmers elicited many oohs and ahhs. We look forward to seeing many of you again at our upcoming holiday events!
