Quilting Workshops
Quilting has a long established history of being a social activity. Sew Crafty would love to continue that tradition by offering workshops that teach you how to make specific quilt blocks and some quilted wallhangings, placemats and other quilted items that don’t take as long as making a whole quilt. We also want to share our awesome long-arm quilting machine with those of you who have made a quilt top and would like finish it by quilting it yourself on a longarm.
You can take a lesson to learn how to use it and then rent it by the hour to complete your quilt. The rental cost is $20 per hour and you can email: sewcraftytoni@gmail.com or contact@besewcrafty.com to schedule an appointment.
Ribbon Pole Table Runner
$95 — 4 hrs
This is a fun and easy table runner you can make entirely from Half Square Triangles. Select your color scheme from the many fabrics we’ll offer you, all included in the cost of the class. Skill level: Confident Beginner
Half-Hexi Table Runner
$95 — 4 hrs
For this project we use the “Half-Hexi” block method to create a table runner. We add triangular ends and then you can quilt it in a number of ways. There will be many colors of pre-cut half-hexi shapes pre-cut for you to choose from. There will not be enough time in this class to do the quilting. If you can’t do that yourself at home you can schedule another session to get it done at Sew Crafty. SKILL LEVEL: Confident Beginner
Quilted Feather Wallhanging
$95 — 4 hrs
This is an original design created by one of Sew Crafty’s star students! The background fabric is quilted first and then the feather pieces are appliqued on and then the edges are finished with a binding. A very unique wallhanging that is fun and easy to make! We provide all the fabric and the a variety of colors for the feather itself and options for the border fabric. A fun way to spend a Saturday afternoon in the Winter! Skill Level: Confident Beginner
Half-Hexi Placemat
$45 — 3 hrs
Wouldn’t it be nice to have a set of placemats that match your table runner, should you want to take the Half-Hexi Table Runner class! Or, maybe you’d just like to have the placemats and skip the table runner. In any case, there will be a lot of pre-cut half-hexi shapes pre-cut for you to choose from to make your placemat. SKILL LEVEL: Confident Beginner.
Carpenter’s Star Wall Hanging
$95 — 4 hrs
This is yet another example of a project that looks complex, but it’s NOT! We’ve made templates to help you lay out each quadrant of this pattern and it’s so easy you won’t believe it! We will just have time to make the top of this quilted wall hanging – you’ll have to quilt it and bind it at home OR you could bring it into Sew Crafty during a Sewcialzing session to finish it.
Stained Glass Quilted Wallhanging
$85 — 3 hrs
This pattern of piecing creates a look similar to stained glass. There will be lots of pre-cut half-hexi shapes cut out of lots of fun fabrics for you to choose from to make your “window”. You will make 4 stained glass “blocks” and sew the together to create a wall hanging. If you enjoy this process of piecing you MAY want to make 12 or 20 blocks to create a whole quilt. There won’t be time in this workshop to create that many blocks, but once you learn the process you could accomplish that at home.
Quilt-As-You-Go Placemat
$60 — 2.5 hrs
This is a super easy and fun way to make use of your scraps! The process involves sewing strips of fabric to each other AND to the batting and backing of the placemat simultaneously, hence you “quilt as you go”! Make one placemat in this class and then you’ll be able to go home and make more so you’ll have a set! SKILL LEVEL: Confident Beginner
Missouri Star Quilt Block
$65 — 2 .5 hrs
Learn to make this established quilt block and you can out a border round it and turn it into a pillow OR you could go home and make a bunch more and sew them together to create a quilt top! Either way, you’ll have fun selecting from all the pre-cut colors of fabric that we’ll have for you to select from to make your block. Skill level: Confident Beginner
