Let’s repurpose some jeans!

There are SO many cool things you can turn an old pair of jeans into! Sew Crafty has been making patchwork tote bags, cross-body bags, “whole jeans” bags, “half jeans” bags & wine bags out of old jeans with our students for years!  We also cut the legs into strips and weave them together to make placemats, potholders & coasters. An old pair of jeans can be transformed into a cool skirt, too!  Once our new studio renovations are complete and we’ve moved in (early June) we will begin offering workshops to teach adults how to make all of these projects.  In the meantime, save those old jeans and you may even want to tell your friends (who don’t sew themselves) to save their old jeans for you to repurpose.

Our Renovations are Progressing!

It’s been very exciting to see the progress that’s being made to renovate the first floor room here at 104 W. Parrish St. that Sew Crafty is going to move into!  Some of you may remember the business I used to run out of that room which was called the “Fun Zone”.  The sewing studio is currently actually IN my second floor apartment, and it practically takes over the whole apartment!  When the sewing studio moves downstairs I will get my apartment back to myself!  AND the new room will make the sewing studio be even better than it is now!  Good news all around!

New Adult Workshops Offered

The schedule of Adult Workshops is listed on the “Workshops” page of this website.  Some new workshops being offered are the Bowl Cozy, the 3 in 1 Quilt Block and the Quilted Placemat. Of course, our popular Beginner’s Workshops #1 and #2 are still being offered, geared towards people who have never sewn with a machine or maybe have but not much and a long time ago. You can sign up for a class with a few friends and make it a social time while also creating something. You are welcome to bring some wine to turn it into a “Sip ‘n Sew” session!

All weeks of Summer Sewing Camp are FULL!

Well,  Summer Sewing Camp has always filled up pretty fast but this is CRAZY! Camp was completely full by 12:30PM today!  People started sending their registration requests in at 12:01AM this morning! If you’d like your daughter’s name put on the waiting list you can email me at sewcraftytoni@gmail.com.  Typically a few cancellations come in around April or so.  People have to sign up so early and then some other opportunity may come along that results in a cancellation.

Due to the number of girls who have been coming to Sew Crafty’s Summer Sewing Camp for several years now we realized it was time to offer an Advanced Camp for those girls.  There will be 3 weeks offered for Advanced Camp – the weeks beginning June 18, July 16 and Aug. 13.  To qualify for Advanced Camp one must be at least 12 years old and have attended Sew Crafty Sewing Camp at least 3 times in the past.  We’re VERY excited to be offering this camp that will help girls become more independent in their sewing abilities.
